I've been a huge fan of Dorie Greenspan for years and years and her World Peace Cookie (on the front cover) has appeared on my Christmas cookie trays for years to joyous exclamation from all. 

What's more, every sable recipe is a must-have and the savory cookies have appeared at Friday night cocktails more times than I can count.  In short, this is an incredibly useful cookie book on many levels.
